Pharisees

As we were waiting for Maxwell's turn to be baptized at the stake baptism, they showed a beautiful movie about Christ's life and ministry. Max was cuddled up to me, which I love (that's an unrelated sidenote), and the movie was portraying Christ healing a man and also forgiving him of his sins. It then shows some men on the other side of the room condemning Jesus of blasphemy because no man can forgive another of his sins, only God can they say. Max leaned over to me, shaking his head in disgust, and said, "Pharisees". This little boy of mine, (actually I must remember that he's just on loan to me for safekeeping), reminds me time and time again that he's paying attention during scripture study even when I am absolutely sure he's not!

Sand Jumping

My sister Cassi and her husband Brennan live just below a concrete plant, which means sand jumping. Well, to most people it means sand piles, but to Brennan, who is a true boy, it means sand jumping! We joined in the fun this summer and loved it. From the bottom of the hill it looks kind of easy, but when you climb up and look over the ledge to a near sheer faced cliff of sand, it is much more daunting. It took the little boys and the big boys a few jumps by Brennan to get their courage up. Steve got an A for form and Maxwell got an A+ for his dare devilish skills!

Quirkiness

Putting sock on hand and doing everything else with remaining hand...just one of the cute and quirky things our children do that we find so adorable we bust out the camera phone!

Red Robin is our Go To Restaurant

Is there anyone else out there who has decided that Red Robin is the best family restaurant? Maybe it's because the noise level is so high that it drowns out your kids, maybe it's the balloon animal guy, maybe it's the menu options, or, if you're like us, it's the bottomless fry basket! Here are a couple of our Red Robin excursions, including Emily's birthday dinner and a celebration following Sophie's music recital.

Last Glimpses of Summer

Summer is my favorite season. I would love it if summer lasted 6 months and the other seasons lasted 2. I don't want year round summer, like in Arizona, because I still want my fall leaves and spring blossoms and winter snow, but just a few weeks of them, then let's soak up the sun and play in the water!

Charlie's Angels

This is the Verona Ward Relief Society Presidency, which some of the women in our ward lovingly (at least I hope it's lovingly!) refer to as "Charlie's Angels". I am surrounded by three gorgeous brunettes, Kim, Julia and Kristi, which I guess makes me Farrah Fawcett (I say this because of the blonde hair and for no other reason!) I must admit that we work well together. Our fearless leader, Julia, sets the bar high, and Kristi and Kim have no troubles keeping up. Me on the other hand...we'll just say I'm learning a lot! We have so much fun together, we share a lot, including lots of laughs and a few tears, and we especially love any reason to do lunch!

You Know You're Getting Old When...

The song you choose to give you a little boost for the sprint at the end of your treadmill run is "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. And this was not just a one time slip of the finger on the i-tunes play list, it is my daily routine!!
